School-Age Child Care

We know that choosing a child care provider for your family is a big decision and we’re honored that you’re considering the YMCA. Did you know that YMCAs are collectively the country’s largest child care provider? We’ve been offering child care in the Tri-Cities since 1989. We have 20 years of experience under our belt and we provide care for 650 local children annually.

We provide safe, affordable, high-quality care so you can have peace of mind while you’re at work. Meanwhile, your child will be making new friends, exploring new ideas, and even working on their homework.

Part of what makes us successful is our professionally developed YMCA School-Age Care Curriculum. Our curriculum helps to make your children's experience instructional, inspirational, and fun by placing an emphasis on our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. More about our curriculum…

Our State-Licensed Before and Afterschool Child Care program takes place in the gymnasiums of 12 Kennewick Elementary Schools.

During construction, Sunset View Elementary will be meeting at the Fruitland Building and YMCA Child Care will be provided.  Students will be bused  to the nearest YMCA Child Care Site.

Child care services will no longer be available at Eastgate Elementary. Children participate in enriching activities carefully designed to expand their imagination, reinforce what they're learning in school, and encourage life-long positive values.

Our YMCA School-Age Care Curriculum encompasses eight core areas:

  1. The Arts & Humanities
  2. Character Development
  3. Health & Wellness
  4. Homework Support
  5. Literacy
  6. Science & Technology
  7. Service Learning/Volunteerism
  8. Social Skills Enhancement & Conflict Resolution

We empower children to express themselves, use their imaginations, and express their creativity. We strive to foster an appreciation for reading, thinking critically, and understanding others. We offer the free choice of a variety of indoor and outdoor activities that may be done in small groups or alone and the opportunity to learn about keeping their bodies healthy through movement and, of course, we serve a nutritious snack. We emphasize character development and Y kids learn to see the value of incorporating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their lives.
